Description
Hahnemüle Pearl paper has a smooth, slightly textured surface, similar to orange peel, and a neutral bright white base.
This combination allows for natural-looking prints and vivid, detailed color reproduction.
Being a polyethylene paper, it is coated with a resin layer that gives it a fibrous texture to the touch. The satin finish of this coating gives depth to the image and, together with the grain and brilliance of the colors, creates an effect similar to that of an oil painting. It is one of the papers I have printed on the most, it was love at first sight, its texture and color fidelity have bewitched me.
Canson Infinity Baryta Prestige II
Its surface is smooth and glossy, with a barium sulphate coating that gives images exceptional depth and tonal range. Blacks are deep and intense, whites are pure and bright, and colors are vibrant and realistic.
Its alpha-cellulose and cotton base, acid-free, guarantees great stability over time.
Along with Hahnemüle Pearl, they are my first choices when it comes to choosing a paper that enhances a landscape with warm, saturated colors. The latter has a finer, less evident texture, but a superlative yield.
Hahnemühle Photo Rag
A 100% cotton paper that offers a slightly rough texture reminiscent of traditional watercolor paper.
It falls into the category of matte papers, ideal for framing as it is free of reflections.
It offers excellent sharpness, a softer contrast, at least compared to glossy papers, the black is less deep, but allows for delicate and harmonious shades.
I recommend it for more artistic shots, with pastel shades.
Moreover, it is acid and lignin free, guaranteeing high resistance to aging and long-term preservation of prints.
Hahnemühle William Turner
With its marked and distinctive texture, Hahnemühle William Turner is a FineArt paper that wins everyone over, due to its three-dimensionality. Similar to Photo Rag, it offers a matte surface, but with a more pronounced structure reminiscent of handmade watercolor paper. This feature gives it a traditional and artistic look.
This type of paper is perfectly suited for some of my shots, especially the more artistic and abstract ones.
If your choice is more focused on a landscape rich in elements and micro details, I suggest you turn your attention to a paper with a glossy or semi-gloss finish such as Hahnemüle Pearl or Canson Baryta Prestige II as they can give more life to the shot.
